Background of Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar
Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar is the current Vice President of India. He was born in a small village in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan on 18 May 1951. He completed his LLB from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, and started practicing law in 1979.
Political Career
Shri Dhankhar began his political career in the early 1990s. He was elected to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in 1993 and served as a member of the state cabinet from 1998 to 2003. In 2019, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha and served as the Governor of West Bengal from 2019 to 2022.
Vice Presidency
In August 2022, Shri Dhankhar was elected as the 14th Vice President of India. He is the first Vice President from the state of Rajasthan.
